Sealions on Vancouver Island

Sealions are a common sight along the Eastern Vancouver Island shoreline. Anywhere there are places for them to pull out of the water, they will congregate, especially during their migration months in the fall and spring.

On the central island, one of the best places for sealion viewing is at the Fanny Bay government dock. The sealions like to gather on the pontoons just off the docks, and attract a lot of attention when they are in town!

They make so much noise they can be heard from anywhere near the water. It is undeniably entertaining to watch these giants, in fact it can be hard to leave!
